National Peace Corps Association

The National Peace Corps Association (NPCA) connects, informs and engages individuals in programs promoting Peace Corps values. Founded in 1979, the NPCA network of over 30,000 individuals and 135 affiliated groups linked in a common mission: "to foster peace by working together in service, education and advocacy."

NPCA implements global education programs, promotes domestic and international service, publishes a monthly e-newsletter and a magazine – WorldView – about the Peace Corps world and the communities it serves, and mobilizes support for national advocacy and global engagement initiatives. It is not a part of the Peace Corps, a federal agency.

NPCA's global education program focuses on improving understanding of and respect for the diverse cultures of the world and promoting participation among Americans as members of a global community. The Global TeachNet program provides K-12 educators with professional development and resources to engage students in becoming active, informed global citizens. Global TeachNet distributes a weekly listserv with updates about current global education resources and opportunities, and publishes a quarterly newsletter with articles, lesson plans and resource information.

The Kids Around the World website introduces elementary-age students in the United States to the lives of children in developing countries through interviews and photographs. The Global Libraries Outreach Campaign builds connections between Returned Peace Corps Volunteer groups and public libraries to coordinate community global education programs.
