Global Nomads Group

The Global Nomads Group (GNG) connects students around the world using videoconferencing. Programs have enabled thousands of young Americans to talk with students in Rwanda, Iraq (before and after the war), Sudan, and dozens of other countries. GNG’s PULSE brings high school students throughout the United States together to increase their understanding of global affairs, heighten their consciousness and sense of citizenship and develop their understanding of the substantial role that the United States plays on the world stage.

The Pulse is a videoconferencing program that connects youth around the United States to share their thoughts about the important world issues of our time. Previous Pulse programs have included discussions on “Islam and the US: a Clash of Cultures?”, the December 2004 Tsunami, the roots of Genocide moderated by a Rwandan genocide survivor (Rwanda Alive), and a debate allowing students to express their vision on the Future of America during the US elections.

Comments on PULSE Programs

“You have no idea what this did for our students. We live in a VERY SMALL, homogenous community and to discuss our role in the world today with people from around the country gave them a learning experience they will never forget. We are looking forward to our next videoconference!”

“Of particular interest for our school [in Michigan] was that one of the New York schools…had a Muslim population… My students left this conference with greater understanding of the Muslim faith and of the culture of Islam.”

“I just wanted to thank you so much for allowing us to participate in today's videoconference. Your scheduling the event has led us to having 2 days of very in-depth class discussions preparing for this morning and an additional discussion today as we bring closure to the thoughts and ideas that we heard.”
