Educating for Global Competence: Preparing Our Youth to Engage the World

From the Asia Society and CCSSO comes a new resource on defining and understanding global competence in the classroom setting.

Educating for Global Competence: Preparing Our Youth to Engage the World,
by Tony Jackson, Vice President, Asia Society, and Veronica Boix Mansilla, Principal Investigator, Interdisciplinary Studies Project, Project Zero, Harvard Graduate School of Education and Bernard Schwartz Fellow at Asia Society.

This publication was co-developed by Asia Society and the Council of Chief State School Officers' EdSteps Program and makes the case for a more globally focused K-12 education system as well as defines the term global competence.

It explores how young people view their role as competent workers and citizens, how practitioners can develop global competence through the study of world issues, and policy options to increase opportunities to educate for global competence. With examples, tools, and resources, this book will hopefully become a "must have" for those wanting to add a global dimension to their classrooms and schools.
