Center for Teaching International Relations - the outreach arm of the University of Denver Graduate School of International Studies offers programs and resources to K-12 teachers and students. Cobblestone Publications (Calliope and Faces) - publishes books and magazines for children and teenagers, provides curriculum support for teachers, and offers a large online database of articles. Choices for the 21st Century Education Program at Brown University - a program of Brown University’s Watson Institute for International Studies that provides teaching resources on historical and current international issues, professional development for classroom teachers, and programs for students that emphasize deliberation and civic engagement. Earth Trends - World Resources Institute - a comprehensive online database that focuses on the environmental, social, and economic trends shaping our world. Maps and articles searchable by research topic. Global Kids - uses interactive and experiential methods to educate youth about critical international and foreign policy issues. This NYC-based program provides urban students with opportunities for civic and global engagement. Through its professional development program, GK also provides educators with strategies for integrating a youth development approach and international issues into their classrooms. Global Nomads Group - uses videoconferencing and other interactive technologies to bring young people together across cultural and national boundaries to examine world issues and to learn from experts in a variety of fields. Website includes lesson plans, videos, and other resources for current and past programs. Global SchoolNet.org - helps teachers find learning partners and projects to engage in international project based learning. Global Issues that Affect Everyone - a personal perspective on global issues with links to independent international news reports. Globalization 101 - ‘a student’s guide to globalization’ with issue briefs, news analyses, interviews, links, and a blog. Also provides lesson plans for teachers. GLOBE Program - a worldwide hands-on, primary and secondary school-based science and education program. Offers projects that promote and support students, teachers and scientists to collaborate on inquiry-based investigations of the environment and the Earth system, and has resources in multiple languages available for download. Going Global - a guidebook to assist secondary schools in developing students’ international knowledge and skills. International Education and Resource Network (iEARN) - a global network that facilitates online project-based collaborative learning in classrooms around the world. ISS EarthKam - a NASA-sponsored program that shares high-quality photos of Earth taken from the Space Shuttle and the International Space Station; offers materials and resources for students and teachers to incorporate the images into classroom use. International Children’s Digital Library - an online library of approximately 4,000 high-quality children's books from 54 countries. Journeys in Film - uses film to promote international education, cultural understanding, and media literacy for middle school students. LinkTV Global Link of World Educators (GLOWE) - media programs and dedicated learning guides to help develop global cultural and media literacy. Michigan State University's College of Education- curriculum and other resources through the Global Educators Cohort Program, the Partnership to Prepare Global and International Educators National Council for International Visitors - resources include International Opportunities for U.S. Educators, which provides information on fellowships for travel and study tours offered by a range of organizations. National Council for the Social Studies - national membership association for social studies educators. Website includes information on conference and other professional development opportunities, teaching resources, standards, and advocacy, among others. National Peace Corps Association’s Global TeachNet - resources to promote learning about and respect for the people, cultures, and nations of the world provided by this organization of former Peace Corps volunteers and friends. Peace Corps World Wide Schools - classroom resources based on the experiences of Peace Corps volunteers, including lesson plans, multimedia, and opportunities to connect classrooms with current volunteers and match returned volunteer speakers with interested groups. Planning Curriculum in International Education - a guide developed by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction offers teachers of all levels and all subjects assistance in internationalizing their schools, classrooms, and curriculum. Primary Source - promotes history and humanities education by connecting educators to people and cultures throughout the world. Stanford Program on International and Cross Cultural Education (SPICE) - provides curriculum resources, workshops, and other resources to internationalize elementary and secondary schools by drawing on the resources of Stanford’s Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies (FSI). TakingIT Global - a global online community that seeks to inspire, inform, connect, and empower youth to take action in to improve communities locally and globally. TeachGlobalEd.net - provides online resources, approved by Ohio State University's Social Studies and Global Education program, for K-12 teachers in all subject areas. United Nations Cyber Schoolbus - Central site for the United Nations Global Teaching and Learning Project, promoting education about international education and the United Nations, with teaching materials and activities designed for K-12 educational use and for training teachers. United States Board on Books for Young People (USBBY) - The U.S. national section of the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) promotes international understanding through literature for children and teenagers. Resources include an annual list of outstanding international books; Bookbird, a quarterly journal; conferences, awards, and other activities and publications. World Atlas - atlases and guides for school and travel, information and statistics on many countries. The World and I - an e-magazine with lesson plans and multi-media resources on a huge variety of international topics, for k-12 teachers and homeschoolers. Worlds of Words - a web based database of information on international children’s literature, online publications and other resources to help teachers and others use books to open the world to children around the world. World Savvy - a global education nonprofit, working to educate and engage youth in community and world affairs, to prepare them to learn, work and live as responsible global citizens. Resources include the World Savvy Monitor, a free current events tool that provides background, context, and perspectives to help understand the conversation in the global community. Designed and written for educators, it can be used in a variety of contexts to deepen content knowledge about world issues. Through its Global Educators’ Program World Savvy offers a range of professional development services designed to help mainstream global issues content into classroom instruction. World Vision Australia - offers resources and supplements for teachers and students, including country profiles, information on ethical fundraising in schools, issue-themed games and magazines for downloading.
